10 Signs You Are Emotionally and Mentally Drained

Sure, we all know life has its ups and downs but sometimes we need a break. When you are feeling drained in all the worst ways you need to take a step back and get your mind right.

While it can be hard to tell when you are truly drained or merely losing hope the things below should be clear identifiers when it comes to needing a break. There is no shame is relaxing and letting other people take the wheel from time to time. The only way to truly overcome severe draining is to recharge and come back.

If you feel overwhelmed or are going through any of these things you are emotionally and mentally drained to an extreme extent. You can’t keep pulling things out of thin air. Stop, breathe, and recharge. We all get to this place at some point in our lives, you can make it through this.

10 Signs You Are Emotionally and Mentally Drained:

1. You develop a deep sense of hopelessness.

When we are running on nothing we often become hopeless. When you are feeling hopeless you need to relax. It is dangerous to let yourself get to this point.

2. You become overly irritable.

When we are going through things that are having a drastic effect on us it is important to look at what is happening in our lives. If we are becoming more irritable we need to make a note of it. Nothing should go unnoticed. The worse this gets the more damage it can do.

3. You lack motivation in general.

When you become completely unmotivated you are well past the point where you should have stopped pushing yourself. Please get right in your mind and then make a step forward.

4. You are overly upset over things that should not matter.

If you get upset and cry over things that shouldn’t even be sad you need to talk about what is going on inside of you. There are things bothering you that you might not even want to acknowledge but you need to. As mentioned above the longer this goes on the worse it will get.

5. You are experiencing anxiety more-so than usual.

You are anxious and stressing. The more anxious you get the harder it will be to function. If you want to function properly you need to do something about this.

6. You are nauseous (from stress).

This is one of the biggest red signs I have noticed. When you are so stressed it is physically making you sick something should have been done long before now. There is no excuse for this.

7. You are having trouble sleeping.

Insomnia is one of the symptoms that seem to present itself earlier on. If you are having trouble sleeping there is almost always an underlying issue. Resolve the issue and you should sleep just fine.

8. You feel out of place and overwhelmed.

When we are being drained we tend to feel odd and out of place. This is not easy to escape. When we begin feeling this way sometimes we have to remove ourselves from the situation completely.

9. You are experiencing intense fatigue.

You become fatigued on an extreme level. This is much different than exhaustion or merely being tired. You just don’t know where to go from here and can’t handle the thought of much at all.

10. You feel a sense of detachment.

You don’t feel good and you don’t feel bad. Nothing is affecting you and yet everything is affecting you. You are far too drained to function at this point.

When you get like this STOP and relax. Meditate for as long as you need to and recharge. You can overcome anything life throws at you if you take care of yourself. Your mental and emotional states are very important. Stop letting everyone and everything around you drain you.
