Here’s Video Footage Of The Bridge That Gives Motorists Panic Attacks To Drive Over It (video)

People are scared of a lot of things and everyone is different. Maybe you’re terrified of snakes, spiders or insects in general. I know cockroaches give me the heebie-jeebies whereas spiders don’t bother me much unless they’re huge and scary. While some people are afraid of living things, others are afraid of heights. This is a fear that makes sense. Falling to one’s death is not a pleasant thought. That’s why thousands of motorists fear the Chesapeake Bay Bridge more than any other in America. And when you see how precarious this 200-foot bridge is, you’ll want to avoid it every time you drive through Maryland.

Standing at hundreds of feet high at its tallest point, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge spans four miles of horror and fear-inducing panic.

The bridge is so widely recognized as causing fear in the hearts of motorists, that a YouTube video was created to show you just how bad this bridge is for your health.

Besides being as scary as a roller coaster, the bridge is also unique from an architecture perspective. When it was created back in the 1940s, the bridge was a modern marvel. Now it is just a source of terror in the hearts of commuters who must take it daily.

WTOP News reports that “In 1947, the General Assembly, under the leadership of Governor Lane, passed legislation to begin bridge construction. Construction on the bridge began in 1949 and opened to traffic on July 30, 1952. The construction cost was $45 million. At that time, it was the longest continuous over-water steel structure and third longest bridge in the world… The Bay Bridge is 186 feet high at its highest point – high enough to accommodate ocean-going vessels and ships – and to give passengers a bird’s eye view of some beautiful scenery.”

Check out the viral video from Inside Edition below to see how terrifying this bridge is.

The video description reads: “The Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Maryland reaches nearly 200 feet in certain parts and measures 4.3-miles long from end to end – and for some motorists, getting behind the wheel and driving across the bridge is simply out of the question.”

But what do viewers have to say about it? Here are some of the most popular thoughts shared in the YouTube comments:

“Try the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. It’s 23 miles long and at times, you think you’re driving across the Atlantic Ocean.”

Other people didn’t realize that this bridge was one of the most terrifying in America.

“That bridge is right near me, i go over it all the time! I didn’t know it was the most scariest bridge.”

“try going across the Mackinac bridge in my state, the top of Michigan that goes to the Upper Peninsula thats 6 miles long so nice try with the 4.3 miles.”

And how about you? Would you dare to drive across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge? Or would you want to find another way around it no matter what?
